Vancity IC Professional Intimacy Training Program Application
Vancity IC was created with the belief that intimacy training should be rigorous, relational, community-centered, and rooted in ethical creative practice. Rather than offering large-scale certification models, this program is intentionally designed for a small cohort of participants, allowing for meaningful mentorship, individualized feedback, practical application, and deeper engagement with the work.
The goal is not simply to train more intimacy professionals, but to support the development of practitioners who are thoughtful, skilled, accountable, and prepared to contribute to safer, more inclusive creative spaces. We believe this work requires time, reflection, practice, curiosity, and ongoing dialogue.
This program was developed in response to ongoing needs within our creative communities, particularly the need for intimacy professionals who can support queer, trans, and other historically underrepresented artists and productions with competency, care, and cultural awareness. We are interested in cultivating practitioners who understand the communities they serve and who can identify where their skills can have meaningful impact.
For this reason, the program is not designed as a high-volume certification pathway. Admission is intentionally limited, and the mentorship component is a core part of the training. We value depth of learning, professional readiness, ethical practice, and long-term sustainability over rapid certification. Participants will be encouraged to consider not only how to do this work, but why they are drawn to it, who they hope to serve, and how they intend to contribute to the broader creative ecosystem.
Who This Program Is For
This program is created for folks from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who are interested in developing intimacy practice to a professional standard while cultivating exploration, curiosity, and deeper understanding of queer experiences within performance and storytelling.
We also welcome individuals from underrepresented communities who feel confident working within queer spaces and who are committed to creating affirming, inclusive, and collaborative creative environments.
While this training may be of interest to performers, directors, stage managers, educators, movement practitioners, and other creative professionals, it is specifically intended for individuals who are interested in developing the skills, ethics, and collaborative practices necessary to support consent-based work in artistic spaces.
